The Pacific Kennel Dog Show, which was held a couple of months ago in the Canada managed to do what was up until recently considered by even the best waste disposal experts in the junk clearing business on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean a mission impossible – one hundred percent of the waste produced during the showcase in question have been recycled and put into good use.
The event had been held in Surrey, British Columbia. The Waste Management department of Canada was on the spot providing useful help throughout the whole day, which is something all government bodies from throughout the world can take good example of. Around 500 people attended the event. As you can imagine, the amount of junk produced by so many people gathered at one place could be overwhelming, but the organizers and their helpers obviously did great.
But how exactly did the Pacific Kennel Dog Club manage to accomplish such a heroic deed? Well, the answer is simple – they have made that their goal and they have carefully prepared in advance.
There have been numerous different kinds of waste bins placed on strategic spots throughout the venue that aimed at holding separate types of junk that are recycled individually. There have been organic bins for food waste, commingled bins for plastic waste and cans and of course mixed fiber containers for cardboard and paper products of any sort.
Dog waste has been collected in separate buckets that have also been supplied in sufficient quantities and have been easy to reach for any participant in the dog show.
In order to increase the levels of organic responsibility throughout the whole even, the organizers and waste disposal companies they have hired in order to accomplish their final goal made sure that there are compostable forks, knives, coffee cups and take out containers available for all visitors and participants in the show. Another really smart, and as it turned out – highly efficient initiative was that the organized managed to keep bottled water out of the premises of the Pacific Kennel Dog Show by simply giving away free cups of water to anyone who made a pledge to help save the environment by recycling.
In addition to being one hundred percent environmentally responsible and surely an example for the organizers of any such events in the years to come, the Pacific Kennel Dog Show did one more great thing, because it has been actually organized with the idea to be fund-raiser for the local services of the Fire and Rescue departments and the volunteer Fire Departments throughout British Columbia. With the money raised those services will have the chance to buy new oxygen masks for their vehicles.
As we have already said, the Dog Show is the perfect example of how many good causes might be combined with the purpose of reaching one and the same goal – making the world a safer, more comfortable and nicer place. Let’s just hope such events will become more and more in the near future.
