Stage 1: Preparation

couple-painting-wallWall painting has two stages, the preparation stage and the painting stage. You cannot directly jump to the second stage as you will most likely end-up conducting a crappy job which you will end-up hating. Start the prep stage by choosing a colour or colours and purchasing the necessary amount of paint from a home depot in your area. Also don’t forget to buy all the necessary painting tools that you will need for your project.

Next cover the floors of all the rooms which you are planning to paint the walls. It is very important that you protect your flooring, because if paint drops falls on it and dry, the stains will be almost impossible to remove. Also don’t forget to cover all switch plates and sockets. Now use your hand to check whether the wall surfaces are level. If you notice any irregularities, fix them by sanding the problematic areas and adding plaster until the wall levels properly.

Now comes the last stage of the preparation. Grab a brush and cover all walls that you are planning to repaint with primer. Allow the primer to dry overnight before you commence stage two of your project which is the actual painting.

Stage 2: Painting

Start the painting by painting the edges of the walls with a small or mid-sized brush. Then grab the roller and use it to fill the center area of the walls. Always work from top to bottom with slow strokes to prevent paint drips from forming. Once you have applied the first coat of paint, let it dry for several hours before you apply the second coat. Leave the second coat to dry overnight.

The next day check the walls to see if you have managed to produce the color intensity that you were aiming for. If you have then your job is over and you can call it a day. On the other hand if you haven’t then you should apply a third and if necessary a fourth coat of paint. Once the paint has dried, remove the nylon floors, plate and sockets colors and enjoy the new colour of your walls.

End the repainting project by contacting a professional waste removal company to come and remove all the rubbish that has been generated. Nowadays garbage collection services are extremely affordable, so don’t worry that you may have to break bank in order to benefit from such services.

As you can see repaint walls isn’t as hard and time consuming as it sounds. So know that you know what to do, pull up your sleeves and start the preparation for your home improvement project.
